Our Mt. Evans Tour begins from your hotel in the Denver Metro area. We pick you up promptly at your tours departure time and head out to the Arapaho National Forest about one hour away from downtown Denver. The terrain changes drastically along the way - every 1,000 feet gained is equivalent to traveling 600 miles north in latitude, that means as we travel over 8,000 feet to the summit its the same as driving 4,800 miles north.
The alpine zone is the area above 11,500 feet - this is the area where it is hardest for plants and animals to survive. Total elevation at the summit is 14,240 feet and it is often 40 degrees or less at the top so we recommend bringing a jacket with you even if its 90 degrees when we pick you up at your hotel.We will often see Marmots, Eagles, Foxes, Mountain Goats and Big Horn Sheep.
Our tour is 5 hours in duration and all tours are driven in a Suburban, Tahoe, or similar vehicle.
Our vehicles comfortably seat 6 passengers and we keep them stocked with plenty of water for our guests. Our Tours include the vehicle, all entry fees, driver and plenty of conversation along the way. However, we do not provide tours outside of the vehicle due to park service regulations. We can direct you to rest rooms, trails, amazing views and some of the best places in the park, but we are not allowed to walk you through the park during our stops along the way.
